Panax ginseng

Ginseng plants are herbaceous perennials with a single, unbranched stem growing from a fleshy, sometimes forked tuber-like root.  Compound leaves are arranged in a single whorl of 3, either trifoliate or palmately compound.  Small white or greenish-white flowers are borne on top of the stem in a single umbel.
