Anaphalis margaritacea pearly everlasting


The dry white bracts of this everlasting spread out to expose the yellow staminate center. The pistillate (female) flowers are located on separate plants. The stem is covered with downy hairs and feels cottony to the touch. Leaves are linear, gray-green above and wooly-white beneath. It likes dry soil and grows by woods edges.
Habitat & Range
Frequent in dry, sandy, gravelly soils of fields, forest edges, and roasides
More common in the north of the state.
