My homeowners association for Pottsgrove Hunt just had these planted in my backyard -- on a hill near a retention pond.  What do you think?  Is there a better native we could have used?

Posted By Admin: @Barbara Carter Forsythia is a common landscaping shrub, but it’s non‑native and doesn’t offer much ecological benefit. For a retention‑pond slope, native shrubs like spicebush (Lindera benzoin), red‑osier dogwood or chokeberry would provide better wildlife value and handle the wet–dry cycles more naturally.
