Habitat of preferenceof this species is barrens soil.

Flowers are about 1/4 in. wide.

This plant is not very leafy. The leaves that it does have are small and pressed tightly against its' stem.  (See tiny triangular shaped leaf in the center of stem). Reddish seed pods are characteristic of the Hypericum genus.
