A shrub vine that climbs vigorously on trees, other plants, and walls via tendrils.  It has distinctive compound glossy-green leaves with five leaflets. Leaves turn bright red in the fall.  Birds and small mammals feast on its purplish-black grape-like fruits.

Common in woods, fields, and forest edges.

Present throughout the state.
