This is one of our most common thistles that blooms in fields, pastures, and along roadsides during the latter half of the summer.  The flowerheads are many and of pale lilac color.  This thistle is designated as a noxious weed in Pennsylvania.

Common in fields, pastures, along roadsides, and waste ground.

Present throughout the state.
