This moss forms mats of shaggy-looking 'trees' with stems creeping or upright, with stems relatively tall, up to 20 cm long. Stems have a noticeable reddish color and branch, with branches tapering at the tips. Branches are almost perpendicular to the stem.
Habitat & Range
Grows in calcium-rich woods, along streams and in coniferous forest (on soil).
