Thuidium delicatulum delicate fern moss
This delicate moss likes to grow in shady moist areas near strems, often it will be the main moss present in such an area. It can also be found in moist wooded areas in small patches. This moss is bright green in the early season, turning to yellow-green with age. It often forms mats, although can be found in small patches.
The sporophytes are of light red to brown and have curved capsules. Individual operculums have a longish 'nose' at the top. The sporophytes are produced in damp places in late fall.
Habitat & Range
Grows in shady moist areas, often near streams or seeps.
Phenology
Capsules mature in late fall.
