Coarse herbaceous perennial inhabiting various wetland areas. Large showy flowers of white or pink are easily spotted from a distance and make a beautiful addition to a wetland garden.  Grows up to 2 m tall.  Flowers are pollinated by rose-mallow bees and attract hummingbirds.

Grown in edges of wetlands, marshes, swamps, lake/pond shores, shallow water.

Present in the southeast and soutwest of the state.

Leaves  lanceolate or ovate, usually not lobed or very slightly lobed, simple and alternate.

Flowers  large and showy, 10-20cm wide.  Pink or white with a pink center.
