Common evening primrose opens its yellow flowers toward the evening as do other members of this group and the flowers wilt the next day.  It is quite leafy, hairy and branched.  The 4-petaled flower has an X-shaped stigma in the center and reflexed sepals.

Common in cultivated fields, waste grounds, and along roadsides.  Prefers dry or sandy soil.

Present throughout the state.
