Leaves  simple, oval, alternate, widest above the middle; assymetrical leaf base; rough and dark green above, paler below; leafstalk short

Bark  brown to reddish brow with shallow furrows, vertical flat scales; inner bark reddish

Fruit  samara, becoming brown when mature, almost round with notch at the tip; few reddish brown hairs

Height  50-70''
